Chad
With operations at 20 locations throughout Chad, our logistical expertise enables us to offer seamless support to clients, regardless of terrain or distance. Active in the country since 2008, we work closely with peacekeeping forces concentrated along the border with Sudan/Darfur, providing grounds and building maintenance, as well as operations support to regulate the availability of supplies.
In countries such as Chad, RA International aims to give local workers the chance to interact in an international environment. This not only provides locals with an income and ‘on the job’ training, but also allows those working to learn the values our company upholds. Recently, by bringing in trained hygiene and pest control specialists from Germany to provide onsite training, we enabled more than 40 women in Chad to be hired within the organisation. These women were the sole bread winners of their extended families and, with no formal education, had found it impossible to get a foot on the job ladder. In accordance with our belief that empowering women is an indispensable tool for advancing development and reducing poverty, they were paid the same as the men we hired and were able to support their families.
RA International’s activities in Chad have also included:
- An extensive pest control and cleaning programme to clean the town of Abéché and educate the population about the dangers of poor hygiene and the diseases that can occur through lack of pest control and open rubbish pits
- Food preparation, including menus and budgeting, for peacekeeping armies stationed in remote locations
- Local training to provide education on health and safety issues.
